BRUSSELS—Belgium has one of the most productive workforces in the industrialised world, it was reported on Thursday.
According to a new study by US research institute BERI, cited by Flemish newspaper De Tijd, Belgium ranks third out of the world's top twenty industrialised countries when it comes to productivity.
The imressive ranking makes it the European Union's leading labour force as first and second places went respectively to Singapore and non-EU European country Switzerland.
The survey called the ‘Global Labor Force Evaluation Report’ also criticised Belgium however.
It said non-wage labour costs in the country, which include social security contributions, were too high.
