Beijing Mentougou Gas Explosion Accident, Seven Officials Disciplined

According to reports, on April 18, in Mentougou District Zhaitang Town Shuijiaogou area, a fatal gas explosion accident took place at a small coal mine that was ordered closed down last September and its entrance sealed because of illegal mining by local peasants. Seven peasants died in the accident.

In June, the 108th Beijing Mayoral Meeting decided to give a warning reprimand to the superintendent of the Mentougou District and agreed with the party and administrative disciplinary actions taken by the Mentougou District Government against 11 officials of relevant departments.
