- Solidarity for Westbay Garment
Workers
- BAYAN, 8 August 1997. Westbay is the Philippine
component of the multinational fabric and garments
operations of the Mamiye and Wang families in Hongkong
sells childrens garments under the
Kids R Us
and
Disney
labels. Since the start of the year, Westbay
has inflicted on us atrocious unfair labor practices, with
the backing of the National Conciliation and Mediation
Board (NCMB) and the National Labor Relations Commission
(NLRC). A detailed chronology.
- Bra workers seek government
support
- BBC News Online, Tuesday 4 July 2000. Wearing little
more than bras to cover their upper body, about 30 men and
women marched through Manila to take their message to the
Department of Labour. They are employees at a factory
belonging to Triumph, the international brassiere and
lingerie manufacturer.

international syndicalist and anarchist movement
- A-INFOS news service, 24 June 2001. Participated in by
about a third of the factory's 629 workforce, the
strike at International Garments Manufacturing
Corp. (IGMC), which produces for
Wrangler

The Gap
, broke out last May 1 when union
negotiations failed.
- Garment Workers Set To Hold Strike On
Oct. 13
- Bharat Textile, 7 October 2003. The Partido
ng Manggagawa (PM) and its allied labour groups announced
that 50,000 workers will hold a work-stoppage on October
13 to protest the series of closures of garment firms in
Philippines. Dubbed

president Victor Briz said the protest action was prompted
by the recent closure of Novelty Philippines.
