Labor Alerts, 10 August 1999. Workers at the Yoo Yang
factory formed a union on 31 July. As a result, the
leaders fired, but quickly reinstated when the entire
workforce engaged in a wildcat strike. Earlier, workers at
Kimi won a collective bargaining agreement after a
two-year struggle.
Grassroots Media Network, 4 September 1999. Workers from
neighboring maquila factories who refused to go to work in
solidarity with striking workers at the Kimi factory in
Continental Park were tear-gassed and beaten August 30 by
anti-riot police.
