Greetings all,
I spoke to one of the Sistas of MWMII last night, asking for an
introductory piece on the organization to clear up the lack of
understanding of who they are and what they are about. She reiterated
to me that they have never intended to be in any sort of conflict with
the MWM and were disappointed that it was being alleged that they were
a bogus
organization by some. We also discussed the letter
they drew up regarding Sis. Winnie and the use of the word
immunity
in that letter and I shared with her some of the
criticisms that folks offered on that. She was extremely grateful for
the criticism and wanted me to let you all know that they are going to
reword the letter to more appropriate descriptions of what is
happening to our Sista Winnie.
Below is the introductory piece of the organization that was faxed to me last night. Feel free to communicate with these strong Sistas if you so desire.
Struggle,
Sis. Marpessa

Calling all Queens!
It is with Peace, Love and Joy that this letter is sent. Nine (9) of
the original Thirteen (13) members of the National Organizing
Committee for the Million Woman March found it necessary to carry the
Million Woman March to the next phase, an International
Movement.
Effective September 8, 1997, we incorporated an organization that seeks first to grow Healthier rather than Wealthier. We are the Million Women Movement International, Inc. Our mission is to assist and make improvements economically, educationally, socially and in health to promote stability in the lives of women of African Descent. Our vision is cautiously optimistic.
MWMII first call to action will be to stop Senate Bill S-10. We will inform our community and act on issues surrounding homelessness, poverty, police brutality, emerging infectious diseases and most importantly, the preservation of the African Child, at home and abroad.
As seekers of truth and change, we extend open arms to you. The work must continue beyond October 25, 1997. With your support, together we can affect a positive change in the lives of our people.
OUR MISSION: LEAVE NO WOMAN BEHIND ... TO CRY!
In Solidarity,
