Canada kowtows to U.S.

OTTAWA - Industry Minister John Manley has kowtowed to U.S. pharmaceutical firms in drafting new rules on generic drugs, the chairman of Canada's largest generic drug company says.

The new regulations are a defeat for seniors, who were lobbying hard to have repealed the current regulations that delay lower cost generics from hitting the market, said Mike McBane of the Canadian Health Coalition.
