2000. Trade union solidarity was dealt a blow yesterday when
a bitter rift opened up on the workers' day between the
General Secretary of the Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC)
and the President of the Guyana Public Service Union
(GPSU).

Norris Witter welcomed the presence of two estranged unions
at the May Day rally yesterday but the event was marred by
another union's walk out as the GTUC president began his
address.
