Havana, October 25 (RHC)— Today, October 25th, marks the 21st anniversary of the US invasion of Grenada. On this date in 1983, US military forces invaded the small Caribbean island—destroying what remained of the New Jewel Movement and the Grenadian Revolution.
The Cuban people commemorate this date by remembering those who were killed by US invasion and occupation forces. A total of 24 Cuban construction workers—building an international airport at Point Salines, near the Grenadian capital of St. George's—gave their lives in defense of Grenada's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Cuba and the world will never forget Washington's brutal invasion of Grenada on this date 21 years ago.
