TTUTA: Red day a successTrinidad Express, 25 September 2000TTUTA officials were elated with the response of teachers to yesterday's red day protest, which they claimed was a success. Teachers were put on red alert Wednesday by TTUTA's general council to protest the status of negotiations with the Chief Personnel Officer. "Red was a signal to heed our cry to pay us properly," said TTUTA president Trevor Oliver. "We are elated by the teachers' response at such short notice and it shows clearly that the negotiating team and teachers are synchronised," he said. Surveys done by TTUTA at 20 schools in five of the eight school districts showed that between 65 to 70 per cent of teachers wore red. 23rd September 2000 |
