St Vincent workers trying to force Government resignationCANA Online, 22 April 2000Kingstown, St Vincent, CANA - Labour unions and other interest groups in St. Vincent and the Grenadines say they are initiating industrial action from next week to force the James Mitchell administration to resign. "The decision is that we move towards removing the government from office so that whatsoever administration takes office would deal with the matter of pension and gratuities for public officers and other workers," said Fitz Jones, president of the National Labour Congress. The groups and the political opposition are angered over the passage of a bill granting increased pension and gratuities to members of parliament. |
