(Florida AIM) proud tradition of confronting, challenging and exposing
genocidal glorification ceremonies
From A-Info News Service 11 September 1999
This Saturday-September 11, 1999 beginning at 10:00 A.M. members of the
dominant society will glorify an initiator of the holocaust that has
occured for the last 507 years, known as Pedro Menendez by
reenacting (with great poetic licence) his invasion of the Ais,
Timucuan, Tequesta, Calusa, and other Florida Nations.
Florida AIM has continued to oppose these genocidal glorification
ceremonies as they are symptomatic of the dis ease and predatory
mindset of the invaders who began a genocidal assault on Indigenous
peoples with the invasion of Christopher Colon a.k.a Columbus in 1492
and continues to this day with the seriel hate murders of Lakota's in
Rapid City, Mobridge and White Clay-the forced sterilization of
Indigenous women in Brazil, the massacres of Indigenous peoples in
Acteal, Chiapas, Mexico,..... We ask all human beings to join us in
protesting the insanity of celebrating those who have initiated this
genocide. Their are no parades, or reenacments to honor Adolf Hitler,
or Pol Pott yet in Florida alone there are celebrations honoring
Hernando Desoto (who makes Hitler look like a juvenile delinquent),
Pedro Menendez, Navarez, and Andrew Jackson to name a few. The insanity
of calling great the mass murdering megalomania of these men must stop
as we must stop their legacy.
We call upon all human beings to join the American Indian Movement in a
creative and non-violent protest of the reenactment of Menendez's
invasion. By meeting with Florida AIM in Saint Augustine at 9:30 A.M.
near the invasion reenactment site. No Drugs, No Alcohol, No Weapons
rules will be strictly enforced by Florida AIM Security. Support Group
members will report to St. Augustine AIM Director Michelle Davis
Additional spokespeople and leadership on site will be State Executive
Director Sheridan Murphy and North Florida AIM Director David Narcomey.
For meeting location information please contact the North Florida AIM
Office at 904-291-1991, State Office (727) 826-6960 or email
