Workers strike in BurundiBBC News, Thursday 10 February 2000, 00:21 GMTA strike call by trade unions in Burundi attracted partial support from the country's workers on Wednesday. Burundian radio reported that most teachers and national telecommunications company employees were among those who took part in the action. But the radio said that employees in a number of government departments, financial institutions and hospitals went to work as normal. The two-day strike was called in protest at price rises and the government's new economic measures. |
