Celebration of History: Gambia's hosts Roots Festival: From The Final Call Online,, 2 April 1997. Second year of the annual festival conceived by Alex Haley for Blacks of the diaspora. The festival rivals Ghana's bi-annual Panafest (with quite different associations) and aims to help African Americans discover their roots and invest in Gambia.
