Addis Ababa—Workers of the Addis Ababa Ring Road project who have been at loggerheads with their Chinese employers have finally reached an agreement to form a labour union. The workers who went on a half day strike on Saturday held a long meeting yesterday at the Chinese construction company’s headquarters in Kaliti to negotiate a deal with their employers.
The workers who were given the green light to form a labour union had also complained of abuse and sexual harassment. Some approached by The Daily Monitor said they feared being laid off as a result of their stand off with their employers.
