Re. SAPs

See the last few issues of ROAPE, and a number of new studies on the
IMF/SAP by James Currey publishers. There have been a number of other
books published recently, which you should turn up by searching any
major international database under keywords. e.g. the Australian
Bibliographic Network turned up 72 books just under
"Africa-structural-adjustment": here are a few [SA/SAP=structural
adjustment/program]:
John Enos, *In pursuit of science and technology on sub-Saharan Africa :
the impact of SAP's* London: Routledge, 1995.
Christine Farwer, *Afrika zwischen Structuranpassung...* Hamburg: Deutsch
Ubersee Inst. 1994 195 p.
A. Basu, *SAP's and the poor in Africa : an analysis of the 1980's*
Reading: Dept. Econ. Univ. Reading, 1993, 87 p.
Gabriele Geier, *Food security policy in Africa between disaster relief
and SA...the case of Tanzania* London : F. cass, 1995
Charles Harvey, *Constraints on the success of SAP's in Africa. New
York: St. Martins, 1995.
Robert Lensink, *SA in sub-Saharan Africa*. New York: Longmans, 1995.
Claire Melamud, *Adjusting Africa : origin and impact of SAP in Africa .
Worldview, 1995. 192 p.
*SA and rural labour markets in sub-Saharan Africa.* New York: St Martins,
1995.
*SA and beyond in in sub-Saharan Africa* London: Currey, 1994. 270 p.
*Asian industrialisation and Africa: studies in policy alternatives to SA*
NY: St Martins, 1995.
*Women pay the price: SA in Africa and the Caribbean* Trenton: Africa World
press, 1994.
*Political transformation, SA and industrial relations in Africa . Geneva:
ILO, 1994. 242 p.
*The Social Implicaitons of SAP's in Afirca . Harare: School of Social
Work, 1992. 100 p.
These are just a wee sample.
Many Africanist and pol. econ. journals have reviewed similar new pub's.
over the last few years. If you search in say, *Uncover* you should turn
up lots of references.
