The commander for U.S. forces in the Horn of Africa region has met with Ethiopian military officials during a three-day visit to Ethiopia.
Major-General John Sattler is head of the Combined Joint Task Force for the Horn of Africa, based in Djibouti.
He told the Associated Press the United States considers Ethiopia a valued partner in the mission to detect, disrupt and defeat terrorists in the region.
