The history in general of the
attack on Iraq (2002-03)
- Malaysia’s Mahathir Says World in
State of Terror
- By Jalil Hamid, Reuters, [23 February 2003]. Malaysian
Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said the world was in a
state of terror, allowing fear of Muslims to affect
international policy, and a war on Iraq would be seen as a
war on Muslims.
The attack against Iraq will simply
anger more Muslims who see this as being anti-Muslim
rather than anti-terror.
- Another Gulf War, another al-Qaeda
- By Ahmad Faruqui, Asia Times,
20 March 2003. The US decision to prosecute the Gulf War
in 1991 spawned al-Qaeda. The overwhelming majority of
Arabs felt that new war with Iraq would worsen the chances
for peace in the Middle East. It is likely that post-Saddam
Iraq will be even more chaotic and dangerous than Iraq
under Saddam.
- Mussa warns of Iraq war spilling
over
- Middle East Online, 1 April 2003. Arab League Secretary
General Amr Mussa expressed concern that the Iraq war
could spill over and destabilise the entire Middle East.
The day Baghdad falls, is the beginning of the real
war. . .with a lot of violence and confrontation.
- War in Iraq goes beyond scope of local
conflict
- Russian Information Agency (Novisti), 4 April
2003. Russia and China
believe that the war against
Iraq in its consequences is going beyond the scope of a
local conflict and may affect the regional and global
security, stability and development.
