A summit of leaders from Muslim countries known as the Developing Eight - or D8 - gets underway in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, today.
During the two-day summit the leaders are expected to discuss trade and economic issues.
Correspondents say the Pakistani Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, could face protestors demanding an apology for atrocities allegedly committed by Pakistan during Bangladesh's war of independence in 1971.
Egypt and Indonesia are being represented by senior ministers because of domestic pre-occupations.
It's the second D8 summit since the grouping was launched two years ago and has been delayed by four months because of serious flooding in Bangladesh.
