Dockers gather in Miami for ITF conference

Nearly 150 delegates representing dockers' unions worldwide are gathering in Miami this weekend for the opening of the ITF Dockers' Section Conference on Monday 9th June.

The two day Conference, to be chaired by ILA President John Bowers, will discuss the impact of privatisation and restructuring on jobs and conditions in the world's ports.

Learning from recent disputes in Brazil, Netherlands and the UK, the Conference will adopt a new Solidarity Declaration which pledges direct action against any port restructuring plans introduced without union agreement.
