Taino-L discussion forumOn 15 June, 1996, was created an Internet discussion forum called Taino-L. Its description reads as follows: The Taino-L is associated with the Jatiboncu tribal web page (http://www.hartford-hwp.com/Taino/Jatibonicu.html). It is a forum for a discussion of the shared concerns of members of the Taino People and other Arawak-speaking peoples from the Caribbean, U.S. and South America. It seeks to promote a public awareness of the Taino people and the preservation of its culture. Use of an Arawak language as well as Spanish and English is encouraged. A general information document called a FAQ is available for the Taino-L. Look it over to find out more about the list. A "list" is like a public bulletin board on which anyone can use e-mail to post messages for everyone else who is present to read. To receive messages from the Taino-L and to post them, however, you must first subscribe to the Taino-L. To subscribe, send an e-mail message to the list's server (the machine running the list): listserv@maelstrom.stjohns.eduSkip the subject line and as the first and only line of your message, type the following command: subscribe Taino-L and add your real name You will shortly receive a message back acknowledging your subscription. To unsubscribe, simply send an unsubscribe command. To find out who is currently subscribed to the list, send a Who Taino-L command. To send a message to all the subscribers of Taino-L, address it to Taino-L@maelstrom.stjohns.edu. |
