The Hartford Black History Project is a community-based non-profit that celebrates the contribution of the Black community to Hartford's history. A Struggle from the Start, Hartford's Black History, 1638 to the present, is an exhibit located on the second floor of the Hartford Civic Center, to the left of T.J. Maxx. It is open Tuesday-Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and such other times as there are special events. The on-line version of the exhibit, accessible from the menu bar to the left, does not duplicate the mounted exhibit. Watch this space for announcements of cultural and educational events. Because the Hartford Black History Project is community-based, your participation is vital to its success. Please open our visitor's book after exploring our web site. Your response is important for the success of the project. Or you can use our on-line form to become a member of the HBHP if you like, so that you will be sent notices of coming events and attractions.
