Hartford Black History Project
A Struggle from the Start

The Hartford Black History Project presents in these pages a virtual exhibit of the history of Hartford's African-American community from 1638 to the present. It is based on exhibits that were mounted at the Charter Oak Cultural Center, Connecticut Historical Society, and the Pavilion in downtown Hartford, but differs from them to some extent in both theme and content. This virtual exhibit is under construction; please send criticisms and suggestions to the website developer. The actual exhibit will reopen in ca. mid January 1998 at the Harford Civic Center, second floor.
